What the manufacturer identifies
Cascade describes its water-soluble pod film as polyvinyl alcohol, also called PVA or PVOH. The film dissolves in the dishwasher to release the detergent.
Film and formulation
The film material does not identify the source of every detergent ingredient or establish halal certification. Match the exact product and ask its manufacturer about an ingredient origin that matters to your dietary practice.
Glycerin is a separate ingredient question
Glycerin can be obtained from vegetable oils or animal fats. Biodiesel production is one process that produces it as a co-product. The name glycerin alone does not identify its raw-material source. Ask the manufacturer about the exact formulation and source.
